Glucose Injection

[Specification] 100 mL: 5 g; 100 mL: 10 g;100ml∶10g;250ml∶12.5g;

50ml: 2.5 g; 50 mL: 5 g

[Indications] Glucose (dextrose) injection provides water and calories and is indicated for the supply of carbohydrate and fluid in patients who cannot take them by mouth, as a vehicle for the administration of compatible medicines, and in higher concentrations for the treatment of hypoglycaemia.

[Usage and dosage] Administer by intravenous infusion at a rate determined by the patient's fluid and calorie requirements. Peripheral infusion of 5% glucose is given at a usual adult rate of 2 to 4 mL/kg per hour, while concentrated solutions of 10%, 25% or 50% are reserved for the treatment of hypoglycaemia or for parenteral nutrition. Blood glucose and, during high-volume use, serum electrolytes must be monitored.
