Promethazine Hydrochloride Tablets
[Specification] 12.5mg;25mg
[Indications] Promethazine hydrochloride tablets are a sedating antihistamine indicated for allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis, urticaria, and allergic conjunctivitis, for motion sickness, for nausea and vomiting, for short-term sedation and premedication, and as an adjunct in the management of postoperative pain.
[Usage and dosage] Give orally with food or milk to reduce gastric irritation. For allergy, the usual adult dose is 12.5 mg four times daily or 25 mg at night; for nausea and vomiting 25 mg initially, then 12.5 to 25 mg every 4 to 6 hours if required; for motion sickness 25 mg before travelling; and for sedation 25 to 50 mg at bedtime. Promethazine causes marked drowsiness, so alcohol, driving and the operation of machinery must be avoided.
