Alprostadil Emulsion for Injection

[Indications] Alprostadil (prostaglandin E1) emulsion for injection is indicated for chronic arterial occlusive disease and the rest pain, ulcers, and microcirculatory disturbance it causes, for the prevention of thrombosis in transplanted organs, for ductus-dependent congenital heart disease pending surgery, and as supportive treatment of chronic hepatitis.

[Usage and dosage] Give once daily as a slow intravenous injection or by slow drip into the infusion line. The usual adult dose is 5 or 10 micrograms dissolved in 10 mL of sodium chloride 0.9% or glucose 5% solution; the prepared solution must be used immediately, and the patient should be observed for hypotension, flushing, and injection-site reactions during administration.
