Dextran 40 glucose injection

[Specification] 500ml

[Indications] Dextran 40 in glucose injection is a plasma volume expander and rheological agent indicated for shock caused by haemorrhage, trauma, burns or poisoning, for the prevention of postoperative venous thrombosis in procedures such as limb replantation and vascular surgery, for vascular occlusive disease including angina, cerebral thrombosis, cerebral insufficiency and thromboangiitis obliterans, and for priming the extracorporeal circuit during cardiopulmonary bypass.

[Usage and dosage] Administer by intravenous infusion; the volume depends on the clinical condition. The usual adult dose is 250 to 500 mL as a single infusion, with a maximum of 1000 to 1500 mL in 24 hours; infants receive 5 mL/kg and children 10 mL/kg. In shock, larger volumes may be given at 20 to 40 mL per minute, with a maximum of 20 mL/kg on the first day, after dehydration has been corrected. For vascular occlusive disease, 250 to 500 mL is infused slowly every day or every other day for 7 to 10 doses, and for prophylaxis of postoperative thrombosis, 500 mL is given during or after surgery, usually on the first two postoperative days.
