Lidocaine Hydrochloride Injection

[Specification] 5 mL: 0.1 g

[Indications] Lidocaine (lignocaine) hydrochloride injection is indicated for local and regional anaesthesia by infiltration, nerve block, epidural and other techniques, and for the treatment of acute ventricular arrhythmias, particularly after myocardial infarction, in patients who have not responded to other agents.

[Usage and dosage] For local anaesthesia, the dose depends on the technique and the concentration used; the usual maximum adult dose of lidocaine hydrochloride is 200 mg (3 mg/kg) without adrenaline, given by slow injection. For ventricular arrhythmia, 1 to 1.5 mg/kg, usually 50 to 100 mg, is given intravenously and repeated after 5 minutes if required, up to a maximum of 300 mg in one hour. Aspiration before injection and monitoring for local anaesthetic systemic toxicity are essential.
