Calcitriol Injection

[Specification] 1ml:1μg

[Indications] Calcitriol injection, the active form of vitamin D3, is indicated for the treatment of hypocalcaemia in patients with chronic renal failure who are undergoing dialysis, and reduces raised parathyroid hormone concentrations in these patients.

[Usage and dosage] The dose must be determined individually for each patient. The recommended starting dose is 0.5 microgram, about 0.01 microgram/kg, three times weekly as an intravenous bolus given through the haemodialysis line after dialysis; if the biochemical and clinical targets are not reached, the dose may be increased by 0.25 to 0.5 microgram at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks. Most dialysis patients respond to 0.5 to 3.0 micrograms three times weekly. Serum calcium and phosphorus must be measured at least twice weekly during dose adjustment, and treatment must be stopped if hypercalcaemia occurs.
