Nitroprusside Sodium Injection

[Indications]
It is suitable for the immediate reduction of blood pressure in hypertensive emergencies and for the control of blood pressure during surgical procedures. It is also used for the treatment of acute heart failure with reduced cardiac output and increased cardiac workload.

[Usage and dosage]
This product is administered by continuous intravenous infusion after dilution. The usual initial infusion rate is 0.3 μg/kg/min. The dose may be gradually increased according to blood pressure response, usually within the range of 0.5–4 μg/kg/min. The maximum recommended infusion rate is 10 μg/kg/min for short periods. Blood pressure should be continuously monitored during administration, and prolonged high-dose infusion should be avoided due to the risk of cyanide toxicity.
