[Indications] Hydrotalcite (magnesium aluminium carbonate) granules are an antacid and mucosal protective agent indicated for chronic gastritis and for symptoms related to gastric acid, such as epigastric pain, heartburn, acid eructation and abdominal fullness.

[Usage and dosage] Take orally, either directly or dissolved in warm water. The usual adult dose is one to two sachets, each containing 0.5 g of hydrotalcite in 2 g of granules, three times daily, taken 1 to 2 hours after meals, at bedtime, or when symptoms occur. Hydrotalcite should not be taken at the same time as other medicines because it may reduce their absorption, and the dose may need to be reduced in severe renal impairment.
